Privacy

Robo Recipes counts visits with its own simple analytics. It sets no cookies and never stores your IP address.

What we collect

  • The page you visit: its path only, without anything after a ? or #.
  • The site you came from: its name only, like example.com, not the full address.
  • Your device type: mobile, tablet or desktop. Your browser's full details are not kept.
  • Your country, as two letters. No region or city.
  • When each page view or action happened, and when the visit started and ended.
  • What you did: viewed a page or a recipe, searched, copied a recipe's instructions, filtered by platform, clicked a source link, or reached a missing page.
  • A few details about those actions: the recipe or platform, the website of a source link you clicked, and for a search, the number of results and how long the search was. Never the words you searched for.
  • A daily code, explained below.
  • A random code for this browser tab, explained below.

No cookies

We don't set cookies. To group the pages you view in one visit, your browser keeps a random code in this tab's session storage. It is not a cookie, it isn't based on you or your IP address, and it is gone when you close the tab.

Your IP address is never stored

Your IP address is used once, together with your browser's details, the date and a secret key, to make the daily code. The IP address itself is never stored.

The daily code

It lets us count visits per day, approximately, without storing who you are. The code is made from the date, your IP address and your browser's details, mixed with a secret key that our analytics service holds and its database does not. The code changes every day, so codes can't be linked across days, and without the secret key a code in the database can't be turned back into an IP address.

What we never collect

Your IP address, cookies, full web addresses, anything after a ? in an address, search text, anything you type into a form, your browser's full details, your screen or window size, or any account or user ID. We don't capture what happens on your screen.

How long we keep it

In our own analytics database, 90 days. A daily job deletes anything older. For each action we also send three things to Cloudflare's analytics storage, in our own Cloudflare account: the type of action, the page path and the random code for your tab. Cloudflare deletes those on its own after three months.

Who runs it

Robo Recipes runs this analytics itself. Your browser sends it only to robo.recipes, which passes it to our own analytics service, together with your IP address and country so the service can make the daily pseudonymous code; the IP address is not stored. The service runs on Cloudflare, which also hosts this site and tells us your country. We don't use an ad network or a separate analytics company for it.
